We will be working on 3 different quilts during this class. You have 2 options:

  • You may come ANYTIME with your sewing machine, decide which quilt you want to make, receive instructions and then sew.
  • You may come ANYTIME, listen and watch the demonstrations, cut out your pieces and then go home and sew when convenient for you.

The Quilts to choose from are:

Interlocking Windmills, California Rail, and Strip Quilt.

We will have a second workshop to help with the finishing techniques. The date for that will be announced at the workshop. This workshop is intended for the members of Chelmsford Quilters Guild; please email or call Anne Gallo so she can plan accordingly. Materials’ lists will be sent via email.

Vermont Quilt Festival, June 18 - 21, 2009

June 18th, 2009 Titanic Star Workshop (full day class) – Titanic Star is a pattern from the dance floor of the Titanic. Kaye England developed the pattern, Doris' Delight in her Voices of the Past book, and reworked it into Titanic Star, after seeing the movie. The quilt requires the use of the Nifty Notions Half Square Triangle, Bias Triangle, and Half Rectangle rulers. This is an opportunity to learn how to piece accurately using these simple tools.

June 19th, 2009 Tools, Tips and Techniques Workshop (full day class) - Many of us own lots of different rulers, most of which are in a drawer because we don’t know what to do with them. We have found 8 essential tools that we use all the time. The point of the class is when you have to make a specific shape, you will know exactly what tool to use. You will work with half square triangles, quarter square triangles, bias triangles and half rectangles as well as the kaleidoscope block. We will bring all the tools for you to use so you can decide which tools you really need.
June 20, 2009 Autumn Pinwheels (full day class) - A new project class from an old pattern. Simple piecing, good color lesson.
June 21, 2009 Improve Your Machine Piecing Techniques (half day morning) - Many basic tips on improving your skills as a machine piecer, things they never taught you in Home-Ec.
